Hydrosols, are sometimes called hydrolates, or floral waters, and are made by slowly distilling fresh leaves, fruits, flowers, and other plant materials. When steam hits the plant material being distilled, the essential oil is released from the walls of the plant. The steam then travels up to the top of the pot, where the lid traps the essential oil laced steam and sends it through heavy coiled tubes for cooling and collecting in a separate vat. Since oil doesn’t dissolve in water, the EO naturally separates from the cooled water and is stored in a glass bottle. The aromatic water that remains is a hydrosol. It contains trace amounts of the essential oil and subtle qualities of the plant that the essential oil doesn’t possess.
Hydrosols have a scent similar to their essential oil, but can also smell greener or dank. Gentle and subtle, hydrosols have nearly no health contraindications or warnings, they can be used by people and pets of all ages.

How to Use
As a toner: Liberally mist skin after cleansing, or apply throughout the day to freshen and tone your face. Follow up with our Nourish Face Oil to seal in moisture.
Other uses: You can add it to your favorite clay mask, use it as a room spray, spray your pillow before resting your head on it, or use it as a green cleaner for your yoga mat. Some of our hydrosols can even be used to enliven your favorite drink.
