This week, the book CBD Oil: Everyday Secrets was released. We had pre-ordered it months ago mainly because we read everything about CBD that we can get our hands on but secondly because we really like the author, Gretchen Lidicker. Gretchen is the health editor of Mind Body Green and she is in the know with experience as an integrative medicine practitioner and masters degrees earned in both physiology and biophysics. In the introduction, Gretchen describes CBD as nature’s greatest plant medicine and we couldn’t agree more.
The effect of CBD on the endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis in the body is impressive. CBD to manage the symptoms of auto-immune disease or CBD to fight inflammation or CBD to reduce anxiety or CBD for pain. The list does not end there, the bottom line is: It is a great idea to add CBD to your wellness regimen.
Lidicker’s book not only outlines the science of CBD, CBD dosage amounts and the politics of CBD but also includes recipes for how to add CBD to your everyday life. (Thank you for including our Celebrate Bitters CBD as an after dinner drink). We are very excited to try some of these recipes: Peanut Butter Chai Smoothie with CBD, Avocado Dill Dressing with CBD and Rosemary Toasted Nuts with CBD.
As tea lovers, we were especially excited to make the London Fog beverage with CBD.
London Fog with CBD
1 1/2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk
1/2 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
one bag of Earl Grey tea
15 mg CBD Oil (We used our unflavored CBD Oil Enhance)
a pinch of fresh nutmeg
Heat vanilla, milk and cinnamon in a saucepan on medium heat until steamy.
Cut the heat, steep the tea for five minutes or longer depending on your strength preferences.
Remove tea bag, transfer to blender (hand-held immersion blender is ok too), add honey, CBD Oil and blend until frothy.
Top with a pinch of nutmeg and enjoy!
