Ingredients
2 SERVINGS
FOR DATE SYRUP
1 cup date syrup
1 cinnamon stick
10 whole black peppercorns
10 whole cloves
4 cardamom green pods
1-2 small dried chiles (we used guntur sannam chilli)
FOR THE COCKTAIL
4 ounces of bourbon
1 ½ ounces infused date syrup
2 full droppers of Cordial Organics Ginger Bitters
2 orange twists
Step 1
Make the syrup: In a small saucepan combine the date syrup, 2 tablespoons of water, 1 cinnamon stick, 10 whole black peppercorns, 10 whole cloves, 4 green cardamom pods, and 1-2 dried chiles. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce to a simmer until mixture thickens, about 5 min. Remove from heat and cool for about 10 minutes. Transfer to a glass jar and allow to sit for at least an hour and up to 1 week. Strain out spices. Will keep in refrigerator for about 3 months.
Step 2
Make the cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour bourbon and the infused syrup, shake. Strain into two ice-filled cocktail glasses. Top each glass with a dropper full of Ginger Bitters and garnish with an orange twist.
Cheers to a new season!
